Enchanted Highway

I drove the Enchanted Highway today, heading north from Regent, ND. There are many metal sculptures to stop and see.

Still no electricity

Many people are still without electricity in southwest ND, even though there are crews working very hard to get everyone back on-line. It's just a slow process replacing all of the poles that were downed on Good Friday.

Most of the poles have actually broken and are laying on the ground, but this one is still standing with the wire hanging on the ground. I'm very thankful that we have electricity. We were only out for a few hours on Good Friday.

Bison & Another Sunset

This was taken in Hettinger, ND last night. We've had some really beautiful sunsets around here lately.

I see this herd of bison just a few times each year, and yesterday was one of those times. They are along highway 31, north of McIntosh, SD. I was running really late yesterday, so I didn't take time to get very many pictures, but here are a couple.

Downed power lines

OK, these pictures are not very good, but they show some of the 1,000's (yes 1,000's) of power lines that are down in southwestern North Dakota. They say that it will be weeks, or maybe months before they all get fixed. Some of them look like kindling. Even some of the big metal towers collapsed in last weeks' storm. I'm very thankful that we have electricty where I live, although there are people out in the country near me that do not.
